This list was originally designed to accompany a "story-card" activity, where students are crafting a story in 15 min. The "mysterious music" at the beginning (e.g. "There's an End") is meant to accompany that exercise. The last part of the mix is good for any activity (upbeat, regular, & lyric-less).
This playlist violates all most rules in tips for finding music, except that it was culled from places where the music was curated: many songs have prominent lyrics and lots of changes. Needless to say, this list should be used with caution for a class activity. That aside, for intro / outro music––that's how we used it––it's nice.
It's called the "Palm Springs Mix" because it is the musical summary of a trip to Palm Springs wherein I was exposed to the likes of a few dj's whose selections informed this list: dublab dj's frosty & turquoise wisdom, and intoxica radio's howie pyro.
The genres are all over the place on this,
though the effort is to make seamless shifts throughout.
Lyrics are de-emphasized when present.
